The Outlaw Great Ocean Paddle

Want to push your paddling to the next level? Want to explore some of Victoria’s best coastlines, all while having the ride of your life? Then it’s time to get downwind and dirty at Victoria’s only true downwind ocean racing series. The marquee event of the series is the 26-kilometre Great Ocean Paddle (Graeme Long Memorial Trophy), from Urquhart’s Bluff to Torquay, taking in the the iconic towering cliffs of Bell’s Beach and Winkipop. This event attracts some of the best ocean paddlers in the country, so be prepared to paddle your heart out. But don’t worry if you’re not a pro. With a half-course options, plus plenty of water safety on the day, paddlers of all abilities are invited to get wet. Find out what happens when the wind, swell and scenery all turn it on at once! The second race of the season is the Battle of Barwon Heads at the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula town of Barwon Heads. Taking in the iconic river as well as the surf off the Heads, this race will have something for everyone, with two ski/OC course options, and two SUP course options.


The Australia Day Event Port Phillip Cup and Social Paddle is back again in 2014, on Sunday January 26th 2014. Battle it out for line honours in the 6km circuit race or cruise the 3km course to have the chance of winning a Fanatic SUP. Additional knockout sprint races, ‘board & pet’ races, Sup Demos and free clinics to be held throughout the morning. Prizes for the Best Dressed paddler in the theme of “Australia Day”. SUP – The Open January 18th-19th

Surftech, The City of Frankston and Peninsula Stand-Up Paddle School, with the support of SUP VIC present the 2014 SUP – The Open to be held on the Mornington Peninsula on January 18th & 19th. Saturday will see the running of the 10km Downwind race, and Sunday will provide a series of fun events including a 6km, 1500m race, SUP-X and kids races. The SUP – The Open event has been established with a number of objectives in mind.
  • Find the best Stand UP Paddlers in Australian Waters. In the the true spirit of an Open event, the SUP – The Open is open to all comers – just register, then go for it.
  • Grow the sport of Stand Up Paddling by showcasing the best paddlers in Victoria and Australia
  • Provide new comers to the sport with the opportunity to try Stand Up Paddling for the first time.
  • Provide novice paddlers with the opportunity to race in a SUP event for the first time and improve their skills via SUP clinics.
